Making a Murderer

As I'm cuddled up beneath warm blankets as I often am. My mother and I decided to binge watch a new series on Netflix...our choice is "Making a Murderer". While watching this ( no spoilers) I have realized the amount of deceit and phoniness that is found in the justice system. Judges, lawyers, and police officers alike are deceiving complete counties of people. Putting innocent people in prison for crimes not committed. This realization has also reminded me of society today how can Casey Anthony a mother who murdered her own child be walking free but a man who committed no crime be tried countless time with nothing but planted evidence. Now a good portion of the justice system works well but when it comes to cases like the one that based this documentary it is clear improvement needs to be made. This documentary did take place quite a while ago however taking a look at todays society we see brutal beatings and inappropriate arrests being made. This simply makes society question how much justice our justice system is actually doing and why are they feeling so supreme.

  1. You bring up a great point about Casey Anthony. One big thing that Avery and Anthony both had in their cases was intense media coverage. I wonder if those stories weren't exposed by media if the outcomes would be the same? Does the media coverage do more harm than good?

    1. I believe that it does much more harm than good. Selling the stories becomes the prime focus of many of the people involved look at Aileen Wuornos. Her whole case was filmed every second of the way. One reason she was so angry was due to the many people (police, her girlfriend. And her original lawyer) who simply drug her along to get money, film rights, etc. The media made the case seem a lot more intese than it was just to make a good movie out of it.
